Are We a Church?
We are not an institutional church. We are simply a group of people that meet together to learn God’s Word in a rented chapel building on scheduled Sunday mornings (usually every other week) at 10am. (But we think Jesus would call those of us who are saved His church).
I guess you could think of us as (1) a teaching style Bible study, (2) a group of people who are learning the power of prayer, and (3) people who are bonding with each other in the Lord, through getting to know each other, and praying for one other and their families.
The Grace Gospel Gathering was birthed in prayer, over the course of several years, from a longing in the heart and mind of our teacher. He saw many, many good Christian people discouraged and hurt (including himself) by what they saw and experienced in the institutional church. The longing was to get back to having Jesus Christ as the head of the local gathering of believers, and to have a place where the Bible is taught properly, clearly, dispensationally, in its right context and time frame, and to get excited about the Bible again! Our teacher, like many others, had a difficult time telling a new Christian where they should go “to church” (assembled Christians are the church, the body of Christ – not buildings) to learn to pray, to be loved, to meet other Christians, and especially learn the truths of God’s Word, from a purely grace gospel perspective, as received by revelation from Jesus Christ to Apostle Paul (Galatians 1:12).
Come and join us! It is a new adventure, as we have only been meeting since March 21st, 2021. We have no membership, take up no offering (we encourage giving to any christian work or ministry of choice), and no music program except the playing of one song at the beginning (usually hymns). We get right in to the teaching with little or no preliminaries. Then afterward we talk a bit, and get to know each other before we depart. We’ll see where Jesus leads our gathering as time moves on…
